I created a free business listing on my state’s largest online directory and voila, instant success. I get calls weekly from this one listing.

You probably have a similar business directory website in your area. Its usually your state’s largest newspaper publisher(s) that have teamed up to launch their presence online. Check there first.

When you create your listing, you will want to capitalize on the keywords you expect your customers to use when searching for your products or services. For example, when I was promoting Eco-Tune.net, I created my listing so that “Energy Audit Birmingham AL” would be prominent. This has paid off big time.

The other listing you see there is for the actual website of the business, Eco-Tune.net. I got that high ranking from almost exclusively from on-page SEO. On page SEO is the process of creating websites that Google loves. I’ve been doing this for most of my adult life, so I should be pretty good at it!
