Jan 6, 2012 Update: Keyword Miner version 1 is complete! Before it can be released we are still working on a downloads site and support infrastructure. There will be a free version and a paid “Pro” version at launch.
Dec 13, 2011 Update: Keyword Miner has been converted to a native browser extension! We have it running in Chrome and will soon port our work to Firefox.
Deploying the app as a native browser extension allows much faster execution than Greasemonkey allows, plus more control. For example, when you hit the Adwords keywords tools page, we can default the “Match Type” to “Exact” (no more mistakes with that annoying little default “broad” search)
I’m pretty psyched about what I’m about to introduce to you today. I’ve been working on this keyword research application for several months and its coming together amazingly well in the last few weeks. Just prior to the release date, I will be offering all existing product owners an early bird discount offer before its available to the public, but I wanted to give you a sneak peek today.
The application, code-named “Keyword Miner“, automates and simplifies the process of researching and finding profitable keyword rich domains that you can monetize. The killer feature of Keyword Miner is that its integrated directly into the actual Google search results with real-time data. It will provide a listing of all available top level domains as well as a “Competitive Snapshot” for each to give you a solid idea of the ease of ranking a site for each keyword.
Most important though is Speed.
Unlike other more costly software tools like Market Samurai or Micro Niche Finder, Keyword Miner runs right inside your favorite web browser. This means there’s no desktop application to install, manage or update.
To use it, you will just install a tiny little script into your browser (works with FireFox, Chrome and Safari) and then head over to the Google Adwords Keywords tool (GAKT) to see it in action.
To begin, just search for a keyword term or phrase in the GAKT interface and you’ll see the related terms appear along with the monthly search volumes for each result.
Here’s where the magic happens in real time keyword research….
With the Keyword Miner add-on installed into your browser, you will notice a new column labeled “Available Domains” has been added to the search results*
The Keyword Miner application augments the search results and automatically lists the available top level domains for each keyword phrase returned, complete with a link to purchase the domain.
Here’s a screenshot of what it looks like for a typical search (this is live data taken just a few minutes ago for the term “tow mirrors”):
(click the screenshot for full screen preview)
This script was inspired by the “Domains By Volume” script by Oliver Tani which I introduced you to last year. Unfortunately, after Google updated the keyword suggestions tool, Oliver’s script ceased to work and it was never updated to work with the new interface. That’s where this script comes in. It is fully compatible with the updated GAKT interface and I will be adding lots of enhancements to it as I develop it further.
You can get this same functionality now, for $99 with Micro Niche Finder. However, you’ll be able to pick up a copy of ClickBump Keyword Miner for a fraction of that cost.
*To give you some insights into my plans for this application: Keyword Miner, along with my WordPress theme (ClickBump 5), On-page SEO plugin (ClickBump SEO!) and Local Business Website builder (BizLocal), form the basis of a comprehensive suite of solutions for monetizing web traffic.
Keyword Miner will re-enforce my long term product strategy of over-delivering and under-pricing on products that exceed expectations for Internet Marketing professionals. For example, I’m currently testing additional options like “Competitive Analysis” similar to MNF’s “Strength of Competition” which will give you an instant analysis of how competitive this keyword phrase would be to rank for, without ever leaving the page you are on, based on a variety of known ranking factors like PageRank, Backlinks, Age, and an analysis of the on-page SEO strength of the Google top ten for each search result.

This is something I will buy for sure, MNF and MS are just slow for me, this script will make my life much easier.
September 8th, 2011 at 5:50 am
Hi Scott,
Would this be able to show me any available .co.uk domains for us folks here in the UK?
Thanks,
Rob
September 8th, 2011 at 8:08 am
@Rob, yes, you will be able to preset the TLDs that you want KM to default to. The tiny little help icon (next to the word “Available Domains”) contains the Keyword Miner setup parameters. This is where you specify, the top level domains that you want KM to search as well as your default match type and domain registrar (1and1 being the default)

Looks good but I have a question.
Will you have anything to match the SOC (Strength of Competition)feature that is in MNF? Please understand, I’m not throwing cold water but without a SOC rating the job is only half done. I buy no domains, exact match or not, without knowing what I’m up against on the first page of Google. Having an exact match domain name is great, but if the SOC is too high it can still be a waste of money. Will your program have a accurate SOC type of rating?
September 8th, 2011 at 2:54 pm
@Renaldo, I’m currently testing algorithms with the live data that evaluates the search results and returns a competitive analysis summary for each term. There will be a “quick summary” and a deep dive for each of the search results. The “quick summary” will be auto-generated in real time. The “Deep dive” will be an on-demand option.
September 9th, 2011 at 10:47 am
SOC is far overrated and I have yet to see any automated product that has an algorithm that really helps, maybe Scott will be the one to finally do this … I have faith.
I find MS etc more of a hindrance to seeing the true picture. They don’t really give you the strength of competition, just a load of figures and charts that try to make the best guess that a piece of software can, often ending up making you think the competition is too strong, when in fact it is ready to be beaten.
September 9th, 2011 at 3:47 pm
@Patrick, good points.
My approach will be very similar to my analog approach. I look for at least 3 PR-0 sites in the top 10 for the search and I go for keyword phrases that have a minimum of 1000 search queries per month (exact match using the “Local Results” column).
I’ll go quite a bit further than that with the algo, but that simple formula has allowed me to maintain a pretty good track record in picking winners and losers with EMDs. It hasn’t changed since I posted it nearly 2 years ago
September 10th, 2011 at 7:48 am
hmm, this can be nice tool. I hope you will send email an offer to me or other Clickbump Buyer after it’ve been released.
September 11th, 2011 at 9:29 am
Looking forward to this as I was an active use of DBV in the past.
When will this be available?
September 11th, 2011 at 10:31 am
Hi Denis, I’m hoping to release it as an “early bird” discount to my existing product owners (ClickBump Express, Engine, SEO, BizLocal) in a few weeks.
September 15th, 2011 at 8:13 am
Scott
You are always on top of it! I can’t wait for this. Hopefully soon. I’m growing weary of MS daily updates. Do you think you’ll have to update this tool every day? ;>
September 15th, 2011 at 8:52 am
@Kater: Thanks! Its going to be a great addition to the “ClickBump Engine” product suite. It will not require daily updates. Its a real time data application. It will pull data as you request it and that will be transparent to you as a user of the software. The idea will be “It just works!”
September 19th, 2011 at 10:31 am
Scott
Is it possible to add something to the script where the competition is also done for us too, like 2 or 3 pr 0 or n/a in top ten, or “keyword” under 100k
That way realistically it would be a all in one tool especially for people like us who are always trying to do things manually!!!
October 11th, 2011 at 11:29 am
Scott, do you know when this will be avail?
Thanks.
October 11th, 2011 at 5:17 pm
Scott: How will this compare to Domain espionage which also shows you the avaiable domains?
October 15th, 2011 at 2:10 pm
Oh man, I’m itching for this to come out.
Just knowing this is coming out soon really bums me out while I continue to do my keyword research the old fashioned way.
Any update on release?
Thanks
October 15th, 2011 at 4:32 pm
@Dustin, I’m finalizing the code. Lots involved when working with 3rd party APIs and such. Making final tweaks for speed and overall performance. Should be out within 2 weeks. Maybe sooner.
October 15th, 2011 at 4:33 pm
@Larry – I’m not familiar with DE, but if you take a look at my demo video, then add to that a Strength of competition column and the ability to customize the default domain extensions, you’ll have a very good idea of what KM is all about.
October 15th, 2011 at 4:36 pm
@Denis – within 2 weeks.
October 29th, 2011 at 2:47 pm
Scott:
One of the major shortcomings of all keyword research tools is that they provide CPC values from Google’s Keyword Tool, not from Google’s Contextual Targeting Tool. Any chance this might be incorporated?
Even after having purchased too many WSO’s that were pure garbage, MNF still remains the biggest waste of money so far. It’s so damn buggy it’s just about useless.
Thanks
October 29th, 2011 at 3:15 pm
Hi Mark, version 1.0 will not include CPC numbers. However, if its something the users want included, it certainly will be on the enhancements list and If I’m able to pull the numbers from the CTT, I surely will.
Any day now on the release, sorry for the delay. We have to make sure its just right due to expected high demand at this price point.
November 5th, 2011 at 10:00 pm
Again, you bring speed, simplicity and utility to the web marketeer’s tool box. Can’t wait!
November 7th, 2011 at 11:16 am
@Paul, thanks very much for those kind words.
To everyone following this, I’m sorry I have not released this as of yet. It certainly is ready, however, I’m not in a position to support it just yet.
Once I release version 5.1 of ClickBump, I will be close to releasing Keyword Miner. Its going to be a great tool and I appreciate your patience with my rollout schedule.
November 13th, 2011 at 1:01 pm
I love ClickBump and I am really looking forward to adding this to my tools.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:00 am
Hi Scott
What’s the possibility/difficulty of having country choices for this? eg, here down under it would be brilliant to be able to see quickly which Oz domain names are available.
Thanks
Philip
November 22nd, 2011 at 11:36 pm
@Shawn, thanks. ClickBump 5 is stabilized to the point where I’m finalizing release plans for the Keyword Miner app.
@Phillip, thanks for you interest! You’ll have a full range of domain extensions available to preselect the domain extensions you want to use for defaults, including country specific domain extensions. The software will remember your last selections and have them ready for you each time you access the application.
November 30th, 2011 at 7:41 pm
Hi Scott, Any update? I’m SOOO looking forward to this!
November 30th, 2011 at 10:18 pm
Hi Jonathan, thanks for your interest. I’m currently working on streamlining the competitive analysis engine. The domain search is pretty flawless as you can see from the video, but the competition module still needs work to be on par with the speed & performance standards I’m expecting.
I need it to be right out of the gate and I’m trying to get it into your hands as quickly as possible.
I appreciate your patience. It will be soon.

Hey Scott, can you define “soon” I notice when software/app developer say “soon” its minimum 2 years. I really looking forward to this.
Thanks,
MM
December 9th, 2011 at 8:16 am
@MadMan – thanks for your interest. I’m working with another developer on this and we are in the process of porting the greasemonkey script I created to a native browser add-on plugin. The greasemonkey script is a bit limiting in what we can do. But the browser plugin will afford more capabilities and speed.
Sorry for stringing this along, but since I’m hosting the app, I need to get it right before releasing it into the wild. I can’t give you a hard date at the moment, but If its longer than Jan 1, I may consider releasing it as is. It does a fantastic job of domain lookups, but the competitive analysis feature relies on some additional functions that we need more work on.
December 9th, 2011 at 2:14 pm
Hey Scott,
I would encourage you to include the competition analysis. Too me, that’s the game changer, not so much the domain feature. Thank you!
December 11th, 2011 at 2:35 pm
Scott,
When you put up a buy button, I’m in.
If you release it without the competition analysis feature, it would still be a must have tool for me.
The competition analysis feature would make a great future enhancement, but I want the EMD finder now!

December 14th, 2011 at 9:27 pm
Hey Scott,
I saw your update – does that mean it’s ready to download for Chrome?
December 28th, 2011 at 7:07 am
Almost Jan. ! Anticipation! Any news on the release date?
December 29th, 2011 at 7:41 pm
Hey Scott,
Do you mean that the tool is available for Chrome?
January 6th, 2012 at 12:44 pm
@Bob – Yes, the extension is built for Chrome and we are porting it to Firefox as well.
January 6th, 2012 at 12:48 pm
@Ernie – I’ve just posted an update at the top of the thread. The software is complete. There will be a free “Lite” version and a premium “Pro” version. The lite version will do EMD lookups and domain registrations. The “Pro” version ads competitive analysis, configurable options and several additional features including support.
The release date is pending the setup of the infrastructure to handle downloads, updates and upgrades from Lite to Pro.
January 6th, 2012 at 12:50 pm
@Mike, yes. It will work in Chrome and Firefox
January 6th, 2012 at 12:53 pm
@John, thanks for the kind words. The software is ready to ship. We are just finalizing the member site and support infrastructure. I’ll Tweet an update when its ready. You can follow at twitter.com/clickbump
January 31st, 2012 at 4:12 am
I think the keyword miner will be a hit. There many keyword tools in the market, mainly it “scrape” the Google Keyword Tool and add some functionality like domain availability and competition analysis. But since the Google are regularly updating, the keyword tools are also regularly not working.
It’s different with the keyword miner; which it actually implant the add-on functionality to the browser, and not scrape-ing the Google Keyword Tool.
Scott, where can I join the notification list ?
January 31st, 2012 at 6:43 am
@Rudy, thank for your comments. You can follow my Twitter feed to be notified when its ready.
Ironically, we are all subject to Google’s coding of the keywords tool page. That’s one of the reasons the launch has been delayed. Google just changed their page again. The software, although it works as a browser extension, has to make some assumptions about the page layout. When Google changes that, the software has to be updated to reflect that.
The good thing though, is that the update is automatic for the end user, once we’ve made the changes.
